“Great hosts, great views and everything you need”

Before mentioning the splendid views from one of the best decks in the country, I'd like to point out that this home has all the basics and more. The two spacious bedrooms were comfortable and well supplied. The house was clean and inviting. There were some nice touches like small night lights to find your way around a strange house in the dark. The host(s) were very reachable and responsive even though we didn't need a thing from them. It was nice to know if we needed something or could have used a dining referral they were just a text away. Crested Butte is a one of a kind town. We loved it. There is a full grocery store within two minutes of the house. Several day trips are yours for the taking. We drove up to Paradise Divide and were not disappointed. Last but not least... the deck... what a place to spend some downtime! Stunning views of Crested Butte will not get old. This deck is spacious and appointed with very comfortable furniture. The house is on a highway that leads into town. Before arriving we wondered if it would be distracting. A day after checkout now and I can tell you we don't recall even noticing the traffic. It's a non-factor. If I'm lucky enough to come back to Crested Butte I will look at this property first.

“Cute House, AMAZING views from the awesome deck and yard!!!”

This house was a perfect place to stay in Crested Butte! It is right outside of town but there is a path that takes you right into town and it is not very far at all. The house was cute and very nice inside. The beds are very comfortable, which is a huge deal to me! The wrap around couch was very cozy. The best part about this house is the deck and yard though! Wow! What an amazing view of Mt. CB! We cooked out with the nice gas grill that was provided and had dinner on the deck and it was so relaxing! It is also dog friendly and has a doggie door. Our dog just hung out in the yard all day and looked through the fence down at the path below. He had a blast and so did we! I will definitely stay here again. The owners were super responsive and get back to you very quickly. All in all a great vacation spot!

“Great 3 Day Stay in Crested Butte”

We just spent 3 nights over Labor Day weekend at The Overlook in Crested Butte. One of the biggest challenges for us is finding pet friendly properties that will accommodate all 3 of our small dogs. Pleased to say this property was perfect for us, as the fenced yard allowed the dogs to run around off leash, and the property itself was (is) very conveniently located to downtown Crested Butte (5 min drive or 20-25 min walk) and was well furnished (pots, pans, clothes hangers, washer/dryer, laundry detergent, etc.). Owners were very helpful and responsive in answering any questions. Property was well furnished, which allowed us to cook some meals at home. The property is located right off of Hwy 135, and you do hear some noise from the road, but honestly, it never bothered us at all. As it notes in the description, there is a trail right behind the property that takes you into town, which we took advantage of. We would certainly stay again when and if we make the trip back to CB.

A relaxing week in a lovely place”

We were thrilled with our stay at The Overlook. In fact, of all of our VRBO/Airbnb experiences, we've decided this was our best. Host: Chad was a thoughtful, active host. He texted me to ensure we arrived safely and didn't need anything, and even warned us to watch our dogs around the gaps in the fence. He was super responsive when I had a question about trash and changing check-out time. I was very grateful for his speedy responses! The house itself: Very well equipped. I think the only thing we couldn't find was a can opener (we found one but it was broken or we couldn't figure it out :) ), but literally everything else we needed, we found easily. The downstairs shower is uh-may-zing. We stayed in the room upstairs, and our friends stayed in the room downstairs. (I snuck in a shower downstairs before they arrived --- totally epic!) Highway noise: Yes, you do hear it from on the back porch. We put on some quiet music, and it really didn't bother us. If you're wanting a truly off-the-grid location, pick a place up in the mountains. But if you want something super convenient to town, and a view to knock your socks off, this is your place. The Deck: holy wonderful. We had an incredible time eating, cooking, and reading on the deck. It was lovely. One word of caution (which Chad warned us about): there are a lot of little gaps where dogs can get out. The bigger problem for us, as we discovered the hard way, was the gap between the railing and the deck. our mostly-blind, entirely-deaf dog slipped and fell down onto the steep dirt path below. She's okay, thank heavens, but we definitely moved some wood and barriers so that wouldn't happen again. Learn from our mistake! Don't wait. Book this place. It was just perfect for our little getaway!

“Great Time at the Overlook!”

The Overlook was the perfect place for me, my family, and our dog. The views are better than the pictures. The house is nice and has plenty of room. It is within walking distance of the town. I enjoyed the back deck immensely. One of the best coffee spots I have ever had. Chad is a great host and was more than accommodating. He gave great tips on what trails to hike and even pointed out some great restaurants. We are planning to return ASAP!

“Best views!”

Had a wonderful stay with another couple in this roomy duplex close to town. We walked into town in 10 minutes. Little slippery on the access path, but just take it slow. Loved the views from the deck. Because there were no fire restrictions, we were able to enjoy building a few fires at night in the fire pit. Nothing like a CB night sky! Also loved the spacious set up of the family room and the comfy furniture. A few lamps would make it easier to read at night. Although the downstairs bed and bath is small, the bed is comfy and the shower is great. The owner, Chad, was super responsive and easy to work with. Been coming to CB for many years. Hope to return here next summer.

“Nice Space, Close to Town”

We were just headed for a weekend getaway, this was perfect for the 2 of us. Close enough to walk to town if you wanted. Living area is very open with a great view of the open prairie and mountains to the east. We stayed in the lower bed room to avoid potential highway traffic noise, but didn't notice it at all. Plenty of yard for our dog to hang out when we were at the house. Owner was very friendly, was at the house when we arrived. This is part of a duplex if that concerns you, but the other side was under light construction so we were on our own. Kitchen had all the needed amenities. Deck area was open and very nice to relax on. We didn't start a fire as there was restrictions in place. We couldn't have asked for a better place for our little trip. Would easily stay again on another trip!

Wonderful views great location”

The mountain views are absolutely spectacular. There is a steep path outback that leads to a trail for a short and easy 1 mile hike into town. Chad's recommendations were excellent (and other people we talked to had similar recommendations). The patio was a great place to sit and watch the sunset, or grab a blanket and lay outside to look at the stars. We didn't bring our dog - but she would have definitely enjoyed the yard. I would definitely consider returning for another vacation.”

A great time!”

We had a wonderful time here. The view is unlike anything we have ever experienced. Chad is an amazing host and made our stay very comfortable and easy. He has lots of great recommendations for hiking, food, and other things to do in Crested Butte. We will definitely be back!”

“Best view in CB!”

Chad’s home was a great home base for us during our week in crested butte. The deck is unreal and views are some of the best we have ever experienced in Colorado. We saw thousands of stars and the Milky Way every night. We enjoyed the deck for yoga and coffee in the morning and relaxing at night. The home is spacious and had everything we needed. Chad was super helpful with hiking tips and always responded quickly. It was a short mike walk to town on the path directly below the house which was also great for a morning run. One thing to note is that the house is directly off a highway and there is some road noise present at times. It didn’t hinder our sleep or enjoyment, but we did hear it at times. After the first day, we didn’t really notice it. The living room couch was AMAZING! Recliners and cup holders on both ends and we loved watching TV there at night. Chad has all the great smart TV streaming options. Crested butte was a fabulous hippie chic town with amazing hiking, great food, friendly people and a Wild West spirit. We hope to return and would look forward to staying at Chad’s home again.

“Wow!”

This place was awesome and even better than the pictures and descriptions. We might have to make this an annual event. Thanks so much, Chad!

“Beautiful Mountain Getaway”

Wonderful house with amazing patio and views. Location is great, house is private while less than 5 minutes from town. Internet is super fast. It was great meeting Chad, he was quick to respond to any questions. We’ll definitely be back.

“The deck is the place that dreams are made of!”

We and our dog really enjoyed our stay. The deck is incredible and we spent most of our time at the house outside there. It was hard to pull ourselves away from it with such amazing views. And the totally fenced in yard was such a nice feature. The inside is comfortable and just as portrayed in the pictures. The only thing even close to a drawback (if you are planning on doing a lot of indoor cooking) is that there isn’t a vent hood on the stove, so both times we turned it on, the smoke detector went off almost immediately. Not a huge deal. We just ended up getting take out instead. Which was very easy since the house is also so close to town — a short walk on the trail below or an even shorter drive.

-Katherine S.

“Location, location, location! Cannot beat the view and deck!”

Would stay here a million more times for the view alone. Comfortable and spacious, tastefully updated on main level. Would have enjoyed a few more kitchen basics but got by just fine with what was there. Great communication with Chad - he was attentive and even brought us new blankets when we asked for spares (we had our 3 kids with us). Did I mention the view and deck are to die for?? An easy and short bike ride to town. We definitely want to come back!

“Beautiful mountain getaway”

Such a beautiful and comfortable property with a breathtaking view. 1 mile to downtown CB. Easy access to a trail from the home to the town. The deck is hard to leave the entire time. Owner was great at answering any questions in a quick manner. Our family had an amazing time!

Amazing Views

Loved the views from the property and the convenience to town and the mountain. Very clean, spacious, and has everything to feel at home away from home. Chad is polite and very responsive. Great host and great property!
